- FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU WANT TO BLOG ABOUT
When I say this, I mean first, figure out your purpose and create your content to reflect that. Knowing your purpose will feed your passion and you will always have something to blog about. Take your time and really think about what interests you and find a service that will allow you to create content that genuine, organic and beneficial to others.
- RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH
Your blog and the brand you create around it is an extension of yourself. Research is a major key to starting anything. So much goes into starting a blog aside from just the writing and pretty photos; there’s choosing a platform, securing a domain, finding good hosting, planning and keeping up with social media platforms etc. Researching these things and how they work will help you in the long run especially if you decide to monetize your brand.
- INVEST IN A DOMAIN AND HOSTING
As previously stated, domains and hosting are key things that I believe are super beneficial. It is not mandatory to have them but creating a domain and investing in hosting will make your blog that much more unique. For those of you who may not be so sure of what either is; a domain is the sites URL (you get the .com or the .org instead of the .wordpress.com or the .blogger.com). Hosting your site will provide your site with proper security to keep the hackers away as well as making sure that your site has a good responsive system which will improve the speed of your site.
4. PLAN OUT YOUR POSTS (MAKE EXTRAS)
One thing I’ve learned and still do today is, plan and create content ahead of time. When you’re just starting out, it will take some time to get yourself on a posting schedule that works for you or sometimes something will come up and you don’t have the time to write a post for that day. To stop this from happening, make sure you have a few posts locked and loaded so that you are always prepared for a post.
LIFE MOTTO: IF YOU STAY READY, YOU WON’T HAVE TO GET READY.
- PROMOTE YOURSELF
You are ultimately going to be your biggest fan; some people are going to support you, some will admire from you from afar and others are going to be plain rude. Don’t let that discourage you. It’s important to self-promote and be able to sale yourself by yourself especially just starting out.
-Utilize your social media accounts and be detailed in the description boxes.
-Use specific hashtags, (with this new algorithm on Instagram basic hashtags can make your post invisible)
This tip along with doing research kind go hand in hand and are most important out of the 7 if you ask me. Reading is the key to knowledge and knowledge has the opportunity to create power if you let it. Read and school yourself on as much as you possibly can when it comes to your blog and what the focus is. The more you read the more your creative juices will flow, and your thought process can change over time.
- REFLECT, RELAX, REPETE
Lastly, remember to give yourself a break and don’t feel bad about. Breaks and ‘me time’ are essential to not crashing or burning out too quickly. I usually give myself breaks in-between post or if I know I’m going to be doing a series or. a themed series of posts and afterward, I will give myself time to reflect on my thoughts, the feedback you guys have given me, and the analytics from each post. Doing this allows me to see how well my content is received as well as what post sucked.
QUALITY, VALUE, CONSISTANCY, AUTHENTISITY.
Practice these four things throughout your journey as a blogger and I truly believe you’ll always be living in your purpose and creating content that reflects you.
